Paramedics are treating a number of people after a bus crashed into a shop on a busy east London street.

The collision took place in Chingford, close to Highmans Park railway station, at around 8.20am this morning.

Video footage shows the front of the On Appliances store destroyed by the 212 bus as an alarm rings in the background.

In a statement, London Ambulance Service said: ‘We are on-scene and are treating a number of patients at an incident on The Broadway in #HighamsPark, E4, where a bus has collided with a building.

‘Crews are working closely with partner agencies and we will share more information when we can.’

Shortly after 10am, the London Fire Brigade said crews used special cutting equipment to free the bus driver, who was trapped as a result of his injuries.
